Forget the 2012 Olympics, says Star-Telegram
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspaper has a small article on the upcoming Razer / CPL Event:

Cyberathletes vie for prizes this week at Dallas meet
Forget the 2012 Olympics.

Dallas is the host of the Cyberathlete Professional League $100,000 tournament this week. Instead of wielding pole vaults and javelins, cyberathletes bring keyboards and mice to a competition. The tournament is a head-to-head action competition in the popular action game Quake 3. It is being held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel from Thursday to Sunday. More than 500 gamers are expected to compete in the competition.

"We have 16 countries including the U.S. represented and people from 40 different states," league founder Angel Munoz says. "Eight hundred people have pre-registered to participate, and we expect a few hundred walk-ups, making it our biggest event ever."

The tournament begins with qualifying rounds and concludes with 16-person finals Sunday, Munoz says. There are numerous cash prizes, including a $40,000 first prize. The event is open to the public and the general admission price is $25[?] for all three days with free admission for children under 12.

Revision 2 of Preliminary Seeds Released

Preliminary Seeds for Razer / CPL Tournament
The preliminary seeds for The Razer / CPL $100,000 Quake 3 Arena Tournament have been posted at www.thecpl.com/seeds/RazerCPLprelimseeds.txt. For information on the seeding process refer to the tournament section. The preliminary seeds have been posted in advance to the tournament date in order to get feedback from the playing body by means of match records and player demos. Players are welcome to submit suchinformation to the CPL seed committee by emailing: registration@cyberathlete.com.

Players are seeded for qualifying matches and the 1on1 bracket by committee. Seeds are based on all known match records of the competing players for the current game only. Seeding is designed to protect the integrity of the tournament by predicting to the best of the CPL's ability the outcome of given match-ups. Qualifying scores do not determine a player's seed for the 1on1 bracket, unless the CPL has no match history on that player. An auto-berth does not guarantee a player any specific seed.

The preliminary seeds are subject to change. Due to the high volume of new talent attending The Razer / CPL $100,000 Quake 3 Arena Tournament, including a large overseas presence, many players have yet to be properly seeded. Qualifying round seeds are not final until April 13th at 6:00 PM CST. Duel bracket seeds are not final until April 14th at 6:00 PM CST.
